Episode 9

Glimmering Hope in the Dark Shadows of Suffering with Dan Vangsnes (Part 1)

In this episode, Travis hosts his brother Dan as they look back at the journey of suffering and adversity that their family has endured since 2009. That summer three of Travis' brothers were in a tragic rollover car wreck in Montana that changed the trajectory of their lives and the family's forever. Jeremy was originally pronounced dead and then given a bleak prognosis after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Dan was also fighting for his life in a separate ICU at the time. Their dad, Mark, led the family with a heroic charge into the darkness of the unknown and dedicated his life to being Jeremy's caretaker until he was no longer able.

Travis and Dan recount this journey and the stories along the way that involve unexplainable miracles, unbelievable discoveries, and supernatural hope that only God could provide at times that were otherwise utterly hopeless. They talk about the ways Jesus was with their family every step of the way and how he continues to be today.

They spend a good amount of time throughout the episode highlighting their brother Jeremy and his story and life. They discuss his long journey of recovery and healing. Jeremy was a former All-American collegiate runner and to this day is trapped within his body's limitations, cannot speak, spends time between a bed and a wheelchair, is tube fed, and is dependent on 24-7 care. Somehow despite all of this he radiates joy that lights up a room and is able to communicate in a really unique way. Join us in this conversation!
